A Letter To My Future Self

Dear 30-Year-Old Me,

I hope you’ve kept your softness.
I hope you still laugh easily at life’s little moments,
and cry quietly, in solitude, when you feel the ache of someone else’s pain.

I hope the weight of your trials hasn’t hardened you
or dulled your love for the Lord.
I pray you still believe in the beauty of becoming more and more like your Father,
trusting that He uses all things for the good of those who love Him.

I hope you’ve forgiven yourself for so many things;
the foolish decisions,
the people you trusted too easily,
and the love you gave to those who fractured your gentle heart.

I hope when you look back on 25,
you no longer feel a single trace of disgust,
but only gratitude,
for the growing pains that shaped your character,
the deep lessons in humility,
and the sacred middle ground in between.

I hope you’re walking even closer with Jesus,
that you never let go of the hem of His garment.

I pray your faith isn’t just something people hear you talk about,
but something you live so deeply,
that everyone sees it, without you ever needing to say a word.

I hope you’re braver now…
Some days I’m not sure that’s possible,
and yet I know your heart longed for this.

I pray you’ve released the need to prove yourself,
along with the rigid timelines you once made,
laid to rest and never to be dug up again.
I pray you’ve chosen peace over control.
I pray you’ve never lost sight of who you are
or what you stand for.

Whatever season you’re in now,
I hope you haven’t forgotten how far you’ve come
and most importantly,
the One who has always kept you from drowning in the mud.

Love, 25 Year-Old You

As 2025 now comes to an end, would you be brave enough to share something you’re proud YOU overcame this year in the comments below?

Many blessings, Grace. Xx

  1. I have read my Bible more regularly than ever before. I’m 61 though not 25. I’ve led
The prayers and done the readings in my local Anglican church and have realised that the only path to true faith is first to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.

‘Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

    1. That’s so cool! Thank you for sharing such an amazing accomplishment with me. 💙

  2. Not proud, no; but glad and grateful. We joined another local church where we feel the Lord has led us. The pastor of the church we left is the first pastor I have failed to bond with. There was no fellowship, no camaraderie, no joy, and a sense of always dreading when the other shoe would drop. In our new church home, we find service and joy in the service, a chance to help others grow in the Lord as He leads.

    1. So glad to hear that you have now found a new church community to feel at home in. 💚

  3. Absolutely Beautiful insight and prose Grace.

    1. Thank you! And thank you for reading. 💛

  4. Thank you for this. I needed it. ❤️

  5. I love this. Makes me wish I had wrote something like this 20 years ago 🥹 Thanks for sharing Grace. I pray the same for the 30 yr old version of you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 God bless! ☺️

    1. Aww, thank you so much! Many blessings to you. 🩷

  6. What a prayer for anyone at any age. My life verse is: I am determined to know nothing else but Christ Jesus and Him crucified and risen. It fits your desire for yourself. Blessings

    1. Amen!! Many blessings to you! 🥰

  7. Thank you, Grace, for sharing this very heart-touching story.
    You have much wisdom!
You remind me of the lady who shared the gospel with me in 1978 —
When she and I were 26 years old.

    1. Oh wow, what a testimony! How God is good. Thank you for sharing this with me. 🧡

  8. How cleverly written is this beautiful thoughtful insightful piece of prose! So, what do I mean…

Prose may be interpreted as a piece of literature different from poetry. Prose submissions of literature do not rhyme as most poems do. Prose is considered as being a written or spoken language in its ordinary form, without metrical structure.

You composed a stellar piece of prose advise to your inter-perspective future self. You go girl!!!

    1. Thank you! I appreciate the compliment. Xx

  9. This year, I’m proud that I learned how to keep going even when life didn’t give me clarity or closure. I showed up on days when motivation was absent, when grief was quiet but heavy, and when progress looked painfully slow. I didn’t “win” in loud ways—but I stayed. I studied. I parented. I healed in small, stubborn steps. I overcame the urge to quit on myself.

    1. Wow, that is such a major achievement! I’m proud of you too. 🥹

  10. Wonderful reading. I have loved it. I pray to be more like the father.

    1. Amen! That is my daily prayer too. 💕

  11. Nice blog. I enjoyed it.
