I’m Back! (My Blessing By Grace)

Well can you believe it… After an unplanned and definitely unannounced hiatus that ended up lasting over 4 years, I’m back! The one and only Grace Blakiston, who many of you may know from my previous anonymous blog as ‘My Blessing by Grace.’

I did, in fact delete my blog after not posting for so long but thanks to technology, a lot of hours and some awesome people guiding me, I’ve been able to restore a lot of my old content. Unfortunately, I’ve lost almost all my likes and comments on my old posts and most of my followers have become inactive but I’m excited to start this whole journey afresh!  So, what have I been up to in the past four years? Here’s a quick lil’ re-cap…

I finally finished my apprenticeship… you know the one that was an absolute mess last time we spoke. 😂 I’ve lost friends and made friends.  Watched so many of my cousins become adults, get married and one even welcomed her first baby into the world!

I’ve watched my little brother go from being the smallest in our family to the biggest.  I’ve stood hand in hand with depression and anxiety and learnt how to overcome so much by the grace of God, as I’ve begun to find freedom in this journey.

I’ve travelled extensively in the past couple of years, all around Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, South Africa, Goa, California, Arizona, Nevada anddd South Dakota… all for my very first time.  I got to reunite with my best friends in America after 10 long years, trying to reunite for at least the last 5.  I moved out of home.  Watched one of my sisters leave too as she enlisted into the Air Force.  And throughout these years, I’ve celebrated four birthdays of my own, from my 21st to my 24th.  I’ve also had the privilege of celebrating many other big milestones, including my parents’ 50 th and my second nana’s very special 100th birthday.

I’ve seen many people give their lives to Christ and completely transform for the better whilst unfortunately witnessing others spiral into chaos. I’ve also dealt with a variety of health issues and over the past year have discovered a love for Pilates.

But here’s the exciting part!  For the first time in a long time, I have hope again.  I’m genuinely excited for the journey ahead and would love for you to come along with me as I begin to start posting more frequently again. If you no longer care to follow along, I totally understand.  So here is your official invitation to unfollow me.

Whether you’re hearing from me for the first time or not, I’d absolutely love to hear what you’ve been up to these past four years. Drop a little (or long) recap in the comments below.  I can’t wait to catch up!

Many Blessings, Grace. Xx

  1. Welcome back Grace!
It’s been a busy 4 years for me. I was part of a construction crew in Tanzania in February 2023 and part of a medical/dental/ children’s camp in Uganda this January. I’ve published my first book, been recently installed as a deacon in our congregation, about to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary and seen God do signs, wonders, and miracles. I’ve worked housekeeping at a neighbor’s motel, ice cream slinging at a neighbor’s shop, and currently my husband and I are traveling around the state collecting drug & alcohol samples for our friend’s onsite Testing services. Also, my brother died from ALS complications, brother in law died of sudden heart attack, two sisters in law and a niece also died with heart attacks.
But God! He is good ALL the time and amazing things are happening in our church and around the world!

    1. I’m so sorry to hear of all the struggles you’ve had going on. However your decision to continue to fix your eyes on the Lord is so encouraging!❤️🙌

    2. Thank you so very much. I’m so excited to be back! Oh my goodness, that certainly does sound like a busy four years. You’ve achieved so many amazing things and how cool is it that you published your first book! What’s it called??
Aww, I’m so sorry to hear about all your loses too! Grief definitely can be a challenging thing to walk through. I’m happy to hear that you have peace though as you’re choosing to fix your eyes on things above! XX

  2. Never heard of you before, Grace, though I celebrated (?) 10 years on WP this January. But you sound like a young woman finding her place in the Kingdom, so if we don’t meet on earth, there will be plenty of time to get to know each other in the New Earth.🤠

    1. Well it’s so nice to virtually meet you. 🤍 Wow… such an incredible milestone, celebrating 10 years of blogging! I initially began blogging in 2017 but obviously had a 50 month hiatus. 😂 Amen. Thank you so much for your encouragement. I’m excited to one day be before the throne singing holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty!

      1. Well, actually only nine years as I took 2018 off.😉 But WP credited me for 10 since Jan 2015.

  3. I’m new to this blog but excited to follow along on your journey Grace and get to know the other people in this community as well!😊

This last 4 years have most certainly been the best of times and it also feels like the most challenging. I have been discovering who I really am as a child of God.

I went to uni for two years before deciding to drop out and go down the path of Childcare. I found my church home and began the journey of serving which has played a big role in my faith journey and transformation. Completed a rehab program over two and a years half years. Got my dream dog a beautiful golden retriever called Sammy and am currently studying at Bible college.

    1. Aw thanks Niamh! So grateful to have such a supportive friend in you. Definitely sounds like the past four years have been a lot… filled with hard and exciting things! It’s so cool though to hear how much you’ve grown. What where you originally studying at uni? Xx

  4. Welcome back. I am also new to your blog, and looking forward to seeing what God has for you to share.
I’m new to Pilates, myself, and very much appreciating it. 😊

    1. Aw thank you! 🫶🏽 I’m so glad… pilates is very relaxing!! Xx

  5. Welcome back. I look forward to seeing more of your writing. You have been busy over the past four years. I’m glad it’s been good for you. Thank you for choosing to follow my blog. I pray it’s an encouragement to you. I’ve enjoyed some changes over the four years … a new great granddaughter among one of the greatest joys. Then I’ve had two novels published, seen the camp I’m involved with growing and helping teens and children come to know the Lord. There are other things too, but these are the highlights.

    1. Thank you so much! Wow, so many amazing things have happened. How sweet, getting to see your family grow too! It’s encouraging to hear how the Lord has been using you… so cool! Also what are your two novels called?!

      1. The first one in “The Nazarene’s Price,” and the second is, “Cost & Crown.” Both are Biblical fiction set in the New Testament. The second is a sequel but can stand alone. Thank you for asking.

      2. Oh wow! So cool… I’d love to read them! Xx

      3. They are both available on Amazon in PB and kindle. I think The Nazarene’s Price is still on sale.

      4. Ah awesome! Thank you so much for that info… I’ll look forward to reading them. Xx

      5. Thank you for inquiring about my books. Praying as you read, you will find them a blessing.
