I don’t remember the day you were born, being only 2.5 years apart, you were just always there.
From as early as I can remember, you were my favourite friend.
The one I spent hours with on the swing set,
or hiding out in the cubby house Dad built us, dreaming up everything and nothing.
We made forts from blankets and dining room chairs.
We laughed a lot.
And somehow, never actually fought, which seems like a miracle for most siblings.
As we grew older, life got harder.
There were seasons that stretched us, changed us and created distance.
But growing up has also given us perspective.
Now we’re two adults learning how to love and heal,
and in that, I’ve seen glimpses of our old friendship shine through again.
I still miss my little bestie sometimes.
But I’m also proud of the woman you’re becoming.
You are strong and beautiful in ways that go beyond what people see.
My prayer is that as you continue to grow, you never forget that simply being you, the real you, is more than enough.
So, here’s to 23 years of calling you not just my sister but my friend.
Happy Birthday, Faith.
I love you to infinity.
Many, Blessings Grace. Xx
